Mattias Jacobsson Schulstad began to play the guitar at Nacka Municipal Music School and at Södra Latins Gymnasium. He continued his education at the Malmö Academy of Music and then at the Juilliard School in New York.
His first major recital was at age 17 at the Stockholm International Guitar Festival. His full-length recording debut Invocación explores the Spanish composer Tárrega, and introduced the notion in recent history that Tárrega was inspired by Chopin. Invocación was produced by David Frost, and named Editor’s Choice by Gramophone. It was chosen as Album of the Week by Classic FM (U.K.) and WQXR (New York).
Jacobsson Schulstad was featured in a cover story for the June 2012 issue of Classical Guitar Magazine, and has been featured on Classic FM, KUSC, WFMT, Swedish Radio, as well as having garnered a following on YouTube. Appearances include those at the Uppsala International Guitar Festival, Musik vid Siljan and Strathmore, as well as having made two appearances each at the Gustavus Artist Series at Gustavus Adolphus College, and at the Sun Valley Winter Artists Series, in Sun Valley, ID. Composers Jakub Ciupiński and Ryan Francis have written guitar concertos for Jacobsson Schulstad, premiered with Metropolis Ensemble in New York and Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble in 2014.
Mattias believes in expanding the guitar’s repertoire. He has given the North American and Nordic premieres of Mexican composer Enrico Chapela’s Melate Binario, for solo guitar, and is collaborating with Chapela on a concerto for guitar and orchestra. He has premiered two concertos, by Jakub Ciupiński and Ryan Francis, to date.
This is his first appearance in Allhelgonakyrkan.

Bengt Forsberg, piano, has achieved a unique position in the musical life of Sweden as a pianist, chamber musician and accompanist, including a long collaboration with Anne Sofie von Otter. He has recorded many CDs, many of which have received international prizes such as Grammy and Gramaphone's Record of the Year. The last few years Bengt has recorded several CDs featuring woman composers. "Neglected works for piano" is one and together with Cecilia Zilliacus and Sabina Bisholt there have been several CDs with music by Amanda Maier.
Bengt is KVAH's artistic leader and has been responsible for chamber music in Allhelgonakyrkan for more than 30 years. His repertoire is unusually broad and planning discussions with KVAH's board take up both works by little known composers and little known works by well known composers. The result is wonderful concerts with many of Sweden's finest musicians.
