Kati Raitinen, cello, studied in Helsinki at the Sibelius Academy with Martti Rousi and in Stockholm at Edsberg's music institute with Frans Helmerson. She has a soloist diploma from both. She started playing the cello at the age of nine and after six months of intensive studies was able to participate in the music school's orchestra. Since then, playing in an orchestra is one of her favorite occupations; she is the solo cellist with the Royal Opera in Stockholm. However she also enjoys chamber music. She is a member of the string trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen, founded in 1999, which has established itself as one of the most interesting chamber music ensembles in Sweden today. They won a Swedish Grammy in 2005 for their recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations and are the artistic directors for the chamber music series 'Äntligen måndag', (Finally Monday) in Grünewaldsalen in Stockholm's Concert Hall. In 2014 they received the Interpretation Award from the Royal Academy of Music. She has been a soloist with most of the orchestras in Sweden as well as playing at chamber music festivals around the world.
Kati has appeared at Allhelgonakyrkan often. Her most recent appearance was at last year's festival, "Women Composers".
